Kitchen Smack: Crock Pot Sweet Tea Glazed Ham

*This recipe missed it’s scheduled posting in November, but it’s too good not to share.*

I’ve got Thanksgiving on my mind, and the thought of all that scrumptious food? Yum! The downside is we will miss my momma’s cooking this year as we don’t plan to head back to Virginia until Christmas.

It’s time for new traditions with new friends though, so we are still having dinner. This is going to be one of my potluck dishes. I can’t wait to try it! Recipe as found on The Country Cook.

Crock Pot Sweet Tea Glazed Ham

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 4 hours

Crock Pot Sweet Tea Glazed Ham

  • 5-6 lb fully cooked (smoked) spiral cut bone-in ham
  • 2 cups prepared sweet tea
  • 1 cup brown sugar (dark or light)
  • 10 whole cloves, divided use
  • 2 cinnamon sticks, divided use

  1. Unwrap ham from all of the packaging. Place the ham into a deep 8-quart slow cooker. If your slow cooker isn’t deep or wide enough, you won’t be able to put the lid on.
  2. Whisk together the sweet tea and brown sugar into a small sauce pan.
  3. Whisk together well then pour half of this mixture on top of the ham, setting aside the rest of the liquid for later. Drop 5 of the cloves into the bottom of the slow cooker along with a stick of cinnamon. Place lid on crock pot and cook on low for 4-6 hours.
  4. About 20 minutes before serving the ham, boil the rest of the liquid you set aside earlier. Drop in the last 5 cloves and remaining cinnamon stick. Whisk it well. Reduce heat to medium low and glaze is bubbly and thickened (about 15 minutes) stirring occasionally.
  5. Once thickened, remove cinnamon sticks and cloves from the glaze. Then pour glaze over ham or use a basting brush to gently brush it all over the cooked ham.
  6. Then serve!
