Kitchen Smack’s Award Winning Chili

Y’all, I take pride in my cooking. Like serious pride. I enter chili cook-offs as often as possible. While I have never officially won first place, I have won honorable mentions, which is kind of the same thing, right? Everyone comes over when momma says “it’s chili night.” You’ll just have to try it for yourself and tell me what you think.

Kitchen Smack’s Award Winning Chili

  • 1 lb ground beef, browned and drained
  • 1 lb mild ground italian sausage, browned and drained
  • 1 large can kidney beans, drained and rinsed or 1/2 bag of dry beans prepped according to package directions
  • 1 can sloppy joe sauce
  • 1.5 cans tomato and garlic spaghetti sauce
  • 1 can pineapple chunks
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 green peppers, diced
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes with green chiles
  • 2 packages of chili seasoning
  • 10 shakes of your favorite hot sauce
  • 1/4 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • I bag Frito corn chips
  • 2 oz cheddar cheese
  • salt & pepper to taste

  1. Brown ground beef and sausage together in a 12 inch skillet until no pink remains. Drain grease and set aside.
  2. Add kidney beans, pineapple, spaghetti sauce, seasonings, sloppy joe sauce, onions, green peppers, and seasonings to a 6 qt slow cooker. Blend well. Add meat and blend again.
  3. Slow cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high 4 hours.
  4. Serve. Add corn chips and cheese. Enjoy.

If you use bagged beans, be sure to prep the beans beforehand. I usually make the entire bag and freeze what I don't use for next time.

This will make a lot of chili.
