Has writing always been a passion of yours?
Writing has always been a passion of mine since high school. I have always done academic writing and then was introduced to other writings. I was introduced to poetry. I start writing poetry and then expanded my writing.
At what age did you begin to write seriously?
What is your favorite genre to write and does that differ from the genre you like to read?
I enjoy fiction and nonfiction. One of my favorite books to read is The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.
Where does your inspiration to write come from?
My inspiration comes from wanting to encourage others. I want to share my knowledge and mostly important I want to inspire others as I am inspired to build others up instead of tearing them down.
How does the generation you belong to impact your writing style, or does it?
I am not completely sure. My writing is for everyone. There is no distinguish of where my writing style belong to.
What does your writing schedule look like in a typical week?
One day I would write 100 words a day, another day would be planning and thinking, another day would be freewriting, and lastly, formatting.
Are you a pantser or a plotter?
I’m a plotter.
Can you name an event in your life that has made the biggest impact on where you are today?
I don’t think it’s an event. I think it was many events I been to through conferences, through leadership, or for my own personal gain that discuss finding yourself, self advocacy. One biggest thing that stood out to me was how can you help others? I think that was led me to creating my own personal brand to motivate and encourage others.
You own your own company and write. How do those two things coincide? Do you find it hard to manage both?
I think those two coincide with time management because both are time consuming. I would find it both manageable because it will take some time to do both but to organize and time management will help manage both.
Do you think writers have better luck going the traditional or the self-publishing route?
I think it depends. I would go both routes. I have done self-publishing for my first book, and as I plan my second book, I’m going the traditional route.
What are you working on right now both with your company and personally?
What do you find are the most effective means of promotion?
Flyers through social media. Also, word of mouth is an another effective way of promotion.
What advice do you have for someone just beginning his or her journey into writing?
Keep going. No matter what keep going even when you are having an hard time getting people to subscribe to anything you working on never give up and continue to write. Keep pressing forward and don’t let nothing stop you from achieving your goals.
What piece of fiction has made the biggest impact in your writing career and why?
I think it would be John Green’s The Fault of our Stars. It has a very interesting story and a good flow. It help me develop my thoughts about writing fiction.
What final thoughts would you leave potential readers and future clients with?
My final thoughts are to always stay true to yourself. There are going to be people who are not going to support your vision. But don’t stop working hard to achieve your dream.

Another favorite scripture of Dwaylon is Proverbs 3:5-6 which says “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” KJV. Lastly, Dwaylon lives by Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” KJV.
Dwaylon believes he is Destined for Greatness. Dwaylon also believes others are Destined for Greatness. He believes once someone believes in themselves they will and can be destined for greatness. Dwaylon believes once you find your purpose you will determine your greatness!
